Hey YA Readers!
We’re finally getting some rain here in the upper midwest that is taking us from 95 and humid to 80 and humid. I’ve spent little time in my hammock with a book this summer because of the heat but maybe–just maybe–once the rain stops, I’ll be able to get back in my hammock reading game.
But even if not outside reading, I’m still chugging along inside, which is really nice.
Let’s talk all things new YA paperbacks and YA book news this week.

Book Glass Mug by Fromlizatoyou
I am super into glass mugs and feel like any drink is elevated just a touch with one. This “I’ll be reading for the rest of the day” glass mug would be great for your beverage of choice and your reading vibe needs. $17.

How We Fall Apart by Katie Zhao
Looking for a dark academia-meets-Gossip Girl read but with a cast of characters of color? This one will be up your alley.
Nancy’s former best friend Jamie–ranked at the top of Sinclair Prep’s class–disappears and then is found missing. Nancy, alongside several of her friends, are considered prime suspects, thanks to “The Protector,” an anonymous account on the school’s social network account.
Slowly, the group’s secrets are exposed thanks to The Protector and now, everyone has to slowly come to terms with what they’re hiding in order to prove they didn’t kill Jamie … and to find out who did.
A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee
This week’s paperback theme is dark academic and Lee’s book will further scratch that itch.
Set at Dalloway School in the remote Catskill Mountains–quietly known for witchcraft–Felicity is back for her final year after the tragic death of her girlfriend. The dorm she’s living in is reported to be haunted by the ghosts of five girls who died mysteriously on its grounds. Felicity is trying to ignore it all and finish this year so she can graduate but the school, as well as a new student named Ellis, may not let the occult history of the school hide so easily.
YA Book News
- Victories Greater Than Death is one step closer to adaptation.
- Everything about the framing of this story tells you it is from the Daily Mail, but I wanted to share it mostly because I hadn’t realized how much money Alice Oseman is bringing in!
Thanks for hanging out, and we’ll see you on Saturday with your YA book deals.
Until then, happy reading!
