Hi Book Friends!
Happy Monday and greetings from Canada. Should I just stay here? What do y’all think? Good news, I can write newsletters from ANYWHERE! So the book news and reviews are still coming. And even though we’re getting close to the end of the year, books are not slowing down for anyone. So let’s talk all the book stuff.
Book Deals and Reveals
Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s latest novel Silver Nitrate is coming out from Del Ray on July 18, 2023. The publisher describes the book as “about the curse that haunts a legendary lost film — and awakens one woman’s hidden powers.” Yes please!
And here’s the cover reveal for Jennifer Baker’s Forgive Me Not, a novel about an incarcerated teen that is described as “a searing indictment of the juvenile justice system.” This one is expected to publish on August 15th, 2023 from Nancy Paulsen Books.
Another notable cover reveal: Check out Literary Hub’s exclusive reveal of the cover for Elysha Chang’s A Quitter’s Paradise. The novel will be published by SJP Lit and Zando on June 6, 2023.
As new DC Studios heads, James Gunn and Peter Safran are in the final stages of prepping their multi-year plan, sources say that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 will not be moving forward.
Netflix announced that the second season of Shadow and Bone will be premiering on the streaming service on March 16, 2023.

Book Riot Recommends
I’m a Contributing Editor at Book Riot, I write the Today in Books newsletter, and I’m a Bibliologist for Book Riot’s Tailored Book Recommendations subscription service. I also have a PhD in English, so I’m basically a doctor of books. Books are my life, in other words, so in this section of the newsletter, let me share with you some upcoming books I’m super excited about. And I think you will be too!
Prepare Your Shelves!
Exes and O’s by Amy Lea (Jove Books, January 10)
I’ve been really vibing with cute romcoms this month. Maybe it’s because they go so well with all the corny Christmas movies I love watching this time of year. I’m looking at you, Freddie Prinze Jr Netflix Christmas movie (I know it has a name, but this is its name for me). Anyway, I had a point, and that was…if you’re into that kind of stuff too, then you’re going to want to put this book on your TBR for January 2023. Because it comes out January 10th! So soon!
Tara Chen is a romance novel connoisseur. She still loves love, despite having her heart broken by not one, not two, but 10 different men. All of them dumped her for the same reason: apparently, she can be a little clingy. Still, Tara is determined to find the right guy for her. There’s only one problem. The dating apps just don’t work when you’re looking to have that perfect, romcom style, meet-cute kind of romance.
So what does Tara decide to do? Revisit all of her old flames to see if she can create that trope-worthy, romcom style, second-chance romance. Will it work out the way Tara has carefully planned? Or, is she in for some surprises? (of course she’s in for some surprises…)
