I’m a Contributing Editor at Book Riot, I write the Today in Books newsletter, and I’m a Bibliologist for Book Riot’s Tailored Book Recommendations subscription service. Books are my life, in other words, so in this section of the newsletter, let me share with you some upcoming books I’m super excited about. And I think you will be too!
Can’t Wait for This One!
Flux by Jinwoo Chong (Melville House, March 21)
What debut novel can you get excited about in 2023? Flux by Jinwoo Chong. This book explores grief and Asian American identity through a story that mixes elements of neo-noir and science fiction. Think Ling Ma’s Severance meets William Gibson’s Neuromancer. And you’ll be able to grab a copy of it on March 21.
Four days before Christmas, 8-year-old Bo loses his mother in a tragic accident. Elsewhere, 28-year-old Brandon loses his job after a hostile takeover of his big-media employer, and 48-year-old Blue, a key witness in a criminal trial against a tech startup, attempts to reconnect with his family. Bo, Brandon, and Blue’s lives connect in surprising ways, exposing a vast network of secrets and a technology that threatens to change everything: a form of time travel being used to cover up a string of violent crimes.
Flux is a wild ride. It’s an incredibly unique story with characters that you won’t soon forget. I think a lot of people will be talking about this one when it hits shelves in March. And while that seems far away now, it’s coming sooner than you think, so get excited!

Words of Literary Wisdom
“Become so drunk on life and love that it blinds you to the hate threatening to drown you. Chew on grief for breakfast, devour aches for lunch, inhale life’s acid, let it burn the costume he has forced upon you.”
— The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson
What I’m Watching This Weekend
We all have our comfort shows. My #1 comfort show is Community. But when I watch Community all the way through multiple times in a row? It’s time to switch to Parks and Rec. So in honor of me watching Parks and Rec again for the 1,000th time, here’s a fun little look at the Reading Life of April Ludgate. Enjoy.
And Here’s A Cat Picture!
Look at these cats! Do you think they missed me? They look like they were really sad without me right? Okay, don’t answer that.
Anyway, that’s all for today, everyone. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. And I will see you again very soon!
