Let’s dive into all things paperback releases and YA book news for this week. School is beginning again here, and it’s the end of publishing summer, so expect a few quieter newsletters until after Labor Day. Then we’ll be loading up on new books and book news again.
Bookish Goods
Bookish Shirt by The Bookish Collective
Sometimes, all you need is a simple t-shirt that says bookish. This is a good choice, and you can pick from a few different colors. Personally, I like the black one. $24 and up.
New Releases
Here are this week’s new releases out in paperback–this is a much slower pub week than usual, and you’ll see that there are not stand alone nor first-in-series by authors of color. As always, you can grab the full list of paperback books out this week over here!

Kind of Sort of Fine by Spencer Hall
As senior year begins, Hayley wants everyone to forget her breakdown and instead, remember her as the overachiever. Lewis is hoping this is his year to be a main character and get the girl. When the two are paired up in their TV Production class, they aren’t thrilled. But they begin making documentaries about their classmates’ hidden talents and realize they have a lot more in common than they think.
This one is for readers who like a coming of age story with humor.

For fans of twisty mysteries, Rodden’s novel is up your alley.
After her first year in college, Catherine is home and hopes to begin healing from an event that rocked her world–and that she won’t talk about. YA Book News
- All of the YA science fiction and fantasy that hits shelves in August.
- The adaptation of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe will premiere at TIFF next month, so we’ll have a release date soon.
- There will be a cast recording of the Off-Broadway adaptation of Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer’s Between the Lines.
